Qualifications

My name is Melanie Henson and I am a qualified Bowen Technique therapist. I completed my training with the Bowen Academy of Australia ( BOWTECH®) and am a member of the Bowen Academy of Australia and the Bowen Association UK.

Approach

The Bowen Technique is a complementary, holistic therapy which means we address the person as a whole and not just the condition. This hands - on therapy uses light touch and gentle challenges to muscle and soft tissue producing astonishing results. Once the body enters a state of relaxation during a Bowen session it can access and restore its self regulating functions to release tension and stabilise metabolism and neuromuscular function. The sole intention of the work is to stimulate the body’s innate healing ability allowing the body to heal in its own way, in its own time. In this way a wide range of conditions including structural, postural and emotional can be addressed. Problems such as respiratory, digestive, post operative recovery and pain may be helped with Bowen therapy. Long term conditions may respond to further treatments. Many people find Bowen the perfect way to find deep relaxation and relief from stress and it is common for people to have Bowen for health maintenance even if they are not ill.
