Experience
I have been practising since December 2007 self employed based in the Northampton area.
Approach
A variety of techniques can be used depending on the presenting problem.
Hot stone therapy is carried out using basalt stones heated to 65 degrees centigrade. These are placed on the body, over a towel in a pattern designed to relax the muscles. After the muscles have been warmed up the stones are used along with a massage oil to further massage the body in long sweeping strokes.
Swedish style massage is used to relax individual muscles which for some reason have gone into some degree of spasm causing localized pain. Along with deep pressure work in the area, normal mobility can be achieved.
Advanced Deep Massage
This is an extension of normal massage, and is used on deep set problems
within the muscles. These problems are normally caused from years of knotted
up muscles which have no way to relax themselves. Advanced Deep massage uses
localised pressure directly on to the main muscle knot. This technique is
not pain free but within a couple of hours the effect can be felt. This is
not a one off treatment, but normally no more then six treatments are
required.
Very effective for muscle based sciatica located deep inside the buttocks.
Conditions
These are particularly effective on back and shoulder problems, as well as some sciatica pain problems.
