Introduction

The education programme for the use of Neuro Muscular Transmission is designed to be flexible to meet the differing needs and objectives of different individuals while maintaining high standards of professional training. Elements can be studied at varying times and if you miss a particular weekend, you can make it up later.

It should be understood that NMT is a truly holistic therapy operating on all four levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. All these levels are addressed from the beginning. Personal as well as professional development is integral to all learning on the course which may prove challenging at times, although much support is given for this process. A course in NMT is a course in healing and personal growth on a deep level.

The essentials of the method are taught in the first three weekends. Learning it requires development of your awareness and intuitive skills and practice of methods of analysis of information. There is therefore no obvious structure to the teaching, which is different from forms of teaching with which you are more familiar. Students often do not realise how much they have learned till after the course.

You are able to begin practising immediately and the first three weekends are sufficient to enable you to use NMT for the benefit of family and friends.

If you are already trained in and practising other suitable therapies, you will find that the course begins to broaden your understanding and application of these therapies. Completion of the requirements of the Foundation Module will equip you to incorporate the use of NMT in your own professional work, but not to present yourself as a practitioner of NMT in its own right.

The two main modules give you the necessary depth of knowledge and understanding to be able to interpret and explain to the client the nature of their problem, the progress of the therapy and what other steps they need to take to regain health. A full appreciation of the holistic needs of the client requires working through both modules, covering physical and emotional release, although you may choose to concentrate your practice initially on one aspect or the other. The content of the courses, including elements of anatomy, physiology and psychology, are specifically designed to enable you to share with your clients a readily comprehensible understanding of what is going on. You should not assume if you have had previous training in these areas that this course will cover the same ground in the same way.

The fourth module, called The Therapeutic Relationship, covers other aspects of professional treatment not often included in complementary therapy training but familiar to psychologists and psychotherapists who may undertake a simplified form of this element. The final module helps you with running your business and developing a professional practice in NMT.

Assessment is primarily by the writing of case studies of practical work with your own volunteers undertaken outside of the training weekends. There are some further written and practical assignments. All are designed to be vehicles for learning. Support and guidance are given throughout.

Any training days missed must be made up by attending the appropriate days on future courses. When all course requirements are completed, you will receive a Diploma stating that you have reached a standard that qualifies you to practise NMT in accordance with the Institute’s policies for professional practice. You will continue to receive supervision and support until you have completed all elements and qualify for Registration as an independent practitioner.

DIPLOMA IN NEURO MUSCULAR TRANSMISSION

SYLLABUS

Philosophy

To bring an efficient and effective treatment within the reach of all; requiring nothing more than two hands, an enquiring mind and a willingness to follow, explore and understand.

To access information inhibiting growth and development, physically, emotionally and psychologically. To develop an understanding of why we feel as we do, why our lives are as they are and how we can change them for the better. In doing so we develop a level of awareness that can prevent repeating patterns of negative thought, action or behaviour in the future. We may not be able to change the circumstances but we can change the way they affect us and our response to them.

Physical and emotional links cannot be separated if we are to be complete ‘whole’ beings. Division creates dis-ease – distortions in energy flow changing vibration on a cellular level resulting in physical symptoms.
